Matsunoryu Goshinjitsu
Our curriculum has many different elements. For example, the techniques and curriculum are based on classical jujitsu; nevertheless, the techniques themselves have been refined to fit the individual, and modernized for our times. In addition, keeping with our progressive approach, techniques from other disciplines that have self-defense value have been incorporated into the curriculum.
In regards to traditional martial arts classes, we maintain a lot of the original Japanese philosophy and etiquette. We believe that the virtues of honor, humility and respect are universal elements for refining character, and traditional martial art schools are admirable at conveying these ideas. However, the class is taught in a friendly atmosphere, which may be contrary to the approach of strict traditional martial art schools.
The friendly tone of Matsunoryu jujitsu and its class structure is the influence of its Hawaiian heritage. In regards to technique, self-defense, and tactics, it follows the simple path of function and utility, not appearance or tradition.
